Why Twitter Beats the crap out of Facebook

Graham Langdon at Entrecard, makes the argument that Twitter will beat Facebook in the battle for Social Media Space. I agree with him… Twitter offers far more for far less (in terms of time and energy) than Facebook.
From Adrants…
All within 140 characters, Twitter is IM, email, mobile app, chat room, focus group, news source, a wall on which to bounce ideas, a research resource, presence indicator.
It’s usually the simplest of things that have the most value. Facebook is bloated. Twitter is Internet Lite (I refuse to dub it anything with a 2.0 attached). It’s a simple but ever so powerful interface that brings so many things together and functions as a jumping off point to an endless collection of resources and information.
It’s pretty much guaranteed you’ll interpret this as idiotic puffery but until you use Twitter, really use it for a while, you won’t really understand what you’re missing and you don’t realy have the right to comment. Seriously. Give it a try.

My latest Tweets:
Twitter is mastering the art of talking at people
Twitter is a monologue with muttering on the side
Twitter is a stunted conversation
Twitter is a medium of evasive iteration
Twitter is the 140 character “personality” sales pitch
Twitter is a river of links to elsewhere
The Twitterzone is intimate superficiality
That’s why people like it.
I disagree… two points… 1) you’re following the wrong people 2) it’s an excellent platform to spread ideas, it’s quick and concise.
Horses for courses…
No. I’ve tried it for months. I don’t like the fact that its a total free for all and has no gated community whatsoever. I have no control over who sees or follows me and don’t lead a self-involved enough life to update everyone on my every move.
Facebook is more controlled, more creative and will ultimately hold firm. It does what Twitter does anyway, which is offer status updates.
It’s the sharing of ideas and its quick and easy. Yes Facebook will endure and have many more users, but from what I’ve experienced, the people worth listening to are all on Twitter.
You’re so wrong it’s laughable. Twitter doesn’t provide half the functionality that Facebook does, or that he’s claiming it does, ie: chatroom, email etc.
It doesn’t provide real interactivity, say I reply to someone I’m following, unless they’re following me, or they’re extremely anal about checking, they won;t see it.
It appeals to a certain mindset, which is a minority mindset. People who are so lacking in identity, and so insecure, that they feel a need to gather ‘followers’ who they then batter with the mind-numbingly inconsequential dull crap of their day to day existence.
Sure, it’s great for checking news and getting links, but other than that it’s worthless. It’ll endure, but your fanaticism for it is key in your valuation. If you were being objective, you’d realise that a huge proportion of users have turned away from it already. Because it’s boring.
I’m not talking about functionality. I’m talking about being concise, short and simple. I think the divergence we have is on the matter of focus… I only follow people who have really good ideas and will contribute to my knowledge overall and also satiate my curiosity. some people on Facebook do that as well, but mostly it’s close friends and family i want to connect with. Twitter gives me much more intellectually. Maybe its just different for you.
I think its a total load of crap, I think only people with a pee brain use that shit
