Cultural Stereotypes in Durban.

Last night my wife and I saw this souped up White BMW pumping loud hiphop music… this would be normal for a beachfront scene, but the guys inside the car were white!  I think the cultural integration here just got kicked up a notch because according to cultural stereotypes in Durban, you won’t see a souped up anything with loud hip hop music that wouldn’t be coming from or going to either Chatsworth or Phoenix…

To prove that, I also saw a guy (‘dark as as starless night’ as Mike Naicker would say) and his ‘posse’ decked out in a full white tracksuit with thick fake silver jewellery hanging around his neck.  He was walking whie pumping his hands in and out from in front of him with his fingers pointed and a very noticeable limp.  You’d think he was retarded but you had to notice the bandana and the skewed cap on his head ala 50 Cent… and from there you can alsmot notice the ‘bump bump’ of In Da Club in the background.

Also… when you drive through Chatsworth (Don’t ask when or why)  all you see most of the time is guys working on their cars… i think its a traditional weekend pastime or something… Like Friday Dhall and Rice.

Oh and btw… what happened to Lugs (Blue Lagoon)?  I wanted to go past and get a Fake DVD of “Shooter” and all I got was this measly little shack with a guy trying to sell me fried mealies.  Where have all the Pakistanis gone?  Last time I was there, this dude tried to sell me 16-in-one kids movies along  with a selection of bangladeshi porn and Britney Spears Music Videos…  he even offered to throw in a tray of masala pineapple if I bought all three.  He said it was his daily special.  wtf?

Zahira is quite right, the vanishing of the Pakistanis is due to their being washed away and lack of swimming ability. The souped up car stereotype is strong amongst the Durban Indians, but, according to a local car magazine, the majority of BMW’s (box shape) is in Lenasia. Consider the coloureds as well, I think I’m the only one who doesn’t have mags, sound or tinited windows. Only after market extra that I fitted was an MP3 Front loader and 6×9′s…

I’m actually busy with a project on stereotypes of the Indian community, hence my visting this site. There’s only 4 sectors which we stereotype: race, religion, social class & gender. We’re racist – bottom line. Religion has been an issue since our ancestors first landed on this continent, the social class issue was in their blood from India, & gender always has, is & will be aan issue. After all, we are typically Indian…as much as we act otherwise!!!(lol)

i just wanna say that i been doing a survey of dbn indian women between the ages of 20 an 40 an i was shocked to see an here how they have changed over the years particular in different parts of dbn for example Phoenix erea women is very poverty stricken an really dont wanna get involved with indian men, they have a way of ripping men of sleeping around even if they have boyfriends or husbands an lie alot, parents use there daughters as prostitutes and especially with Pakistani men who have money “there parents leaves them alone with these men and spend there time at casino while these men sleep with there daughters” its a same to see whats currently happening in Durban.
